 The
Robust Open Watermark (ROW) copy control watermark has been
developed to prevent certain types of consumer related unauthorized
copying of electronic music distribution and packaged media.
The technology requires the participation of not only the leading
recording studios, but also the major consumer electronic groups,
all of which worked through the Secure Digital Music Initiative
(SDMI), the Copy Protection Technology Working Group (CPTWG),
Digital Television (DTV), and several other legislative pushes
for adoption of mechanisms such as "Broadcast Flags" to define
standards for usage-control watermarks.
Additionally, the application of Robust Open Watermarks is well-suited
to broadcast monitoring for which Blue Spike has consistently
offered best-of-breed performance in both detection rates, speed
and computational overhead.
New markets which may find the performance of ROWs necessary
features to filtering or metering network connections are evolving
as responsibility for objects and networks has started to converge.
