The Trusted Transaction Server (TTS)
Marries Electronic Media Distribution and Copyright Security
TTS organizes a commerce environment
in which security and copyright protection are maintained at every
step in the process and at every lifecycle stage of the content -
even if it is captured at the sound card or through analogue pick-up.
Here we describe the typical deployment scenario as played
out by the consumer, the working server and, finally, the copyright
holder.
|
1.
Consumer signs up
Customers come to
the server and set up their accounts, receiving a decryption key that
their media players use to decrypt the Download Packages (DLP) that
house the content they purchase.
2. Consumer chooses tracks
The consumers select
the content of their choice and transfer it into their players, depending
on the commerce software mediating the payment, shipping and receipting
systems.
3. TTS embeds Robust Open Watermark
The Robust
Open Watermark (ROW) is fixed to the content to identify it as
originating in a secure environment before being made available on
the server.
4. TTS affixes SecureChannel Watermark
Technically an attachment,
the SecureChannel provides a
vehicle for value-added data like CD liner notes. The SecureChannel
data is only available to the authorized consumer with the corresponding
account key.
5. TTS embeds Forensic Watermark
The moment before the
media is shipped, the transactional data is recorded and embedded
into the content, making the transaction
fully traceable to an individual account.
6. TTS wraps & ships track
The content is encrypted
with a private key on the server that corresponds to the account key
in the player that can decrypt the media for immediate play.
7. Forensic Analysis
In the event that the
content is found outside the secure domain (i.e. on an FTP server),
content owners have the ability to decode the forensic watermark and
trace the transaction.

With
the TTS, even the most demanding media distribution models are facile
operations. |
